Clay barrel relay or new tile: the Lantana decision starts on the roof
Most tile roofs fail from underneath, because the tile outlasts the underlayment and metal it sits on. If your roof is clay barrel tile that is sound and its profile can still be matched, we lift it, lay new self-adhered underlayment, replace the valleys and flashings, and set the same tile back with matching pieces in the gaps.
Concrete tile is not relaid, and if barrel tile is cracked across whole slopes or the profile is no longer made, new tile is the right answer. The photographs show you which of the two your roof needs.
Hypoluxo Island and Point Manalapan: salt picks the metal
On the island side of Lake Worth Lagoon and across the Manalapan estates that run from ocean to lake, salt reaches the valleys, drip edge and wall flashings long before it harms the tile. A clay barrel relay or a new roof there gets metal and fasteners suited to that exposure, and the tile attachment follows the parcel's wind requirement, which is set higher on the island than on the mainland.
