    Waterfront panels and inland panels are different roofs

    At Boynton Isles and Coquina Cove the panels are aluminum and every clip and screw is stainless, with hemmed and sealed edges, because Intracoastal salt streaks a bare-steel cut edge within a few seasons. Inland at Chapel Hill, Mission Hill, Forest Hills and around Lake Eden, coastal-rated coated steel is a sound, less expensive panel. We say which your address needs rather than selling the dearer one everywhere, and we write both on the estimate when the choice is open.

    Standing seam: panels formed to length, concealed clips, no exposed fasteners across the field, clean vertical lines that suit the renovated homes near Ocean Avenue and the newer construction. 5V crimp: the traditional exposed-fastener Florida panel, less expensive, right for a cottage, a garage or a boathouse by the marina, with stainless screws and the understanding that every exposed fastener is a future maintenance point. We install both and say plainly which building calls for which.

    What the association allows, then the City of Boynton Beach permit

    Several Boynton Beach communities publish architectural standards; some accept standing seam in approved finishes, a few still expect Spanish tile on a primary roof, most allow metal on a garage or outbuilding.
