Wellington leak calls come in two kinds. The first is the slow one: a brown ring on a bedroom ceiling in Olympia or Binks Forest, a roof that looks perfect from the street, and a homeowner who has already had someone tell them they need a whole new roof. Sometimes that is true. Usually it is not, and the difference is worth finding out before you spend anything. Water on a tile roof gets in at a flashing, a cracked or slipped tile, a split pipe boot or a valley, runs along the underlayment, and shows up a room away, which is why chasing the stain from inside fixes nothing. The second kind of call is the storm call.
