Tequesta / Jupiter Inlet Colony · Storm damage roof repair
Roofing in Tequesta / Jupiter Inlet Colony since 1975.
In a village with this much mature planting, most storm damage is delivered rather than blown. The wind that reaches Riverside Oaks, Cypress Ridge, Tequesta Pines and Bayview Terrace has been broken up by trees and houses before it arrives, so whole slopes rarely lift.
What happens instead is that the trees give the storm something to throw. A limb comes down on a tiled roof and does more in a second than a night of gusts, and because the branch is cleared away the next morning, the only lasting record is a cracked piece of covering and, underneath it, a layer that may be torn.
Out at Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony and Country Club Point the picture reverses: open frontage, wind off the water, and covering that comes away because salt had already weakened the fixings holding it. Two different problems in one postcode, and they need looking at differently.
There is a third factor here that is worth planning for rather than discovering. After serious weather a heavily wooded village can be genuinely hard to move around in for a day or two, with limbs across streets and driveways blocked.
That affects when anyone can reach a roof, and any contractor promising an arrival time during that window is guessing. What does not change is the order of work.
Water is stopped first with a tarp anchored to points that will hold in the next squall. The timber is given the days it needs to dry.
The lasting repair is made last, onto dry wood, because closing a covering over damp sheathing hides the decay instead of ending it. Photograph what you can see safely from the ground before anything is cleared away.

Good to know
What to know.
- Clearing the branch removes the evidence
By the time a roofer arrives, the limb is usually on the drive or already gone, and all that is left is a cracked tile or a bruised patch of shingle. That is the visible fraction. Impact travels through brittle covering into the layer beneath, which can be punched or torn with nothing showing once a replacement piece is dropped in. Wherever something landed, the covering comes up and the layer below is examined and photographed before anything is closed.
- Water-front damage is a fixings story
At Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony and Country Club Point covering comes away because the fasteners had been corroding in salt air for years, not because the tile failed. The fixings on the rest of that slope are the same age and have had the same exposure, so checking the neighbouring rows and the valley metal comes before quoting. Where they are sound we say so and price a small repair. Where they are not, the photographs show why the job is larger.
- Access in a wooded village
For a day or two after serious weather, streets here can be genuinely difficult, and that affects when anybody can get to a roof. We would rather tell you that than name a time we cannot keep. Tarps go on in the order the water dictates, and we keep you informed as access opens up. It is less satisfying than a promised slot and considerably more useful than one that is missed while a ceiling is open.
- Why the drying wait is not padding
A tarp exists to hold the next shower off timber that is already wet, so the timber can give that water back. It cannot do that under a finished covering. Contractors who compress the wait in order to look responsive hand back work that fails a year later with the fault sealed out of view. On a shaded roof the wait is often a little longer, because a slope that gets little sun dries more slowly than one that gets all of it.

Most storm repairs are a short visit: tiles reset, caps re-bedded, a boot or a run of flashing replaced. A roof the wind opened across a whole slope is a different job, and the photos say which.

Roofing questions
Frequently asked questions.
Who repairs storm damage in Tequesta, FL?
Molsbee Roofing. A family business since 1975, based in Lake Worth Beach, licensed CCC1327429, working Palm Beach County from Jupiter to Boca Raton. We cover 33469, from the wooded village streets in Riverside Oaks, Cypress Ridge and Tequesta Pines out to Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony and Country Club Point. Somebody answers overnight. A tarp goes on first, the damage is photographed, and the lasting repair follows once the timber is dry. Call 561-318-8624.
A branch came down and only one tile broke. Is that a problem?
Treat the broken tile as the visible part of the event rather than the whole of it. Impact carries through brittle covering: the piece that broke absorbed some of the force and passed the rest into the layer underneath, which can be split or punched with nothing showing once a replacement is fitted. Wherever something landed we lift the surrounding covering, photograph what is beneath and repair it if it has been breached, rather than closing an open roof neatly.
Why is my repair taking longer than my neighbour's?
Usually because of drying or access rather than effort. A slope in deep shade gives up water more slowly than one in full sun, so the wait before a covering can be closed is longer. And in the days after serious weather, a wooded village can be hard to move around in, which changes the order in which roofs can be reached. We would rather explain either of those than close a repair over damp timber to appear quick.
Only a few tiles came off at the inlet. Is that small?
Not necessarily on that frontage. Covering comes away there because the fixings holding it had corroded in salt air, and the fasteners across the rest of that slope have had exactly the same exposure for exactly as long. The honest first step is checking the neighbouring rows and the valley metal rather than refilling the gap. If they are sound it is a genuinely small repair, we will price it as one, and the photographs will show why.
Should I put a tarp up myself?
Not by going up. A wet, shaded roof is a slippery surface, anything already loosened will move again under your weight, and getting a ladder into position on a wooded lot after a storm is its own hazard. Do the useful things indoors: move what you can from under the drip, put something down to catch water, and photograph what you can see safely from the ground before anyone starts clearing the garden.
