Houses west of the lagoon in 33404 have a median build year of 1977, and the roof on one may already carry earlier patches or an older layer underneath. A lifted course at the eave, a cracked pipe boot or one rusted wall flashing on a sound deck is a repair.

Palm Beach Shores, at the island's south tip, issues its own permits, allows work Monday to Saturday and wants contractor vehicles gone by 6 pm, so a repair there is planned to fit inside those hours.
