On a house this size that distance can be most of the building, which makes repairing above a ceiling mark close to arbitrary. The roof is worked systematically instead, and the actual entry point photographed before anything is repaired.

The stain is at the other end of the house. Is that possible?

The larger and more complex the roof, the further it can travel. That is why the roof is worked systematically rather than above the mark, and why patching where the water appeared so often fails to stop it.
Was the flat area behind the parapet included?
It is worth asking of any previous inspection, because frequently it was not. Those areas are invisible from the ground and from the garden, and an assessment carried out from a ladder at the eaves will not have reached them. It is entirely common to find a principal roof in good order above an unseen area that has been failing for years, which is why every level is surveyed and reported separately.
Can you work around the household?
Yes, and it is arranged in advance rather than assumed. Hours, the route for material and waste, protection for driveways and planting, and leaving the site clean each day are agreed before work starts. Where the property is managed or not occupied year-round we arrange access with whoever you nominate and send the report to them, and we can inspect between visits so nothing is discovered on the first morning of a stay.
How much does a repair cost?
Far less than a replacement, and it depends on the junction. A collar, a run of sealant or an outlet cleared is a short visit. Rebuilding a wall abutment, a valley or a terrace junction properly is a larger job though still a fraction of a covering. The inspection is free, the photographs come with it, and the price is written down before anything starts.
